as Sidestreet, and the Heartbeats. Gene has been playing bass since the age of
22. Gene is a resident of Duryea and also the leader and founder of the band.
Gene’s outstanding presence, leadership, and musicianship creates the heart and
soul of the Cadillacs.
Larry Mellas, a resident of Mountaintop,
joined the band in 1997. Larry learned how to play guitar and keyboards at the
age of 10. Larry has played with bands such as Tundra, Toyz, Bingo’s Diesel,
Witness, and Sidestreet. Larry adds outstanding harmonies to the band, along
with an added dimension of keyboard work.
Dave Williams resides in Dupont. Dave is the
lead guitar player in the band. He has been playing guitar since the age of 3.
He is also very talented in playing bass, drums, and just about any instrument.
Dave joined the band in 2000. He played with such bands as Twice Shy, Nasty,
Tryst, and Firehouse. He also toured Europe where he released his first CD. He
has recorded with Richie Skarlet, Treavor Laurance, and headlined the Silkborge
Festival in Denmark in 1996. Dave is also known around the Pittston area to play
his guitar with his teeth, a skill you don’t see very often.
Tony Alu, resides in Duryea.
Tony has been playing Guitar since he was 13. Tony has played with the
duo The Duke and the Dauphin, along with a very successful solo career.
Tony has been a member of the Cadillacs since its beginning in 1990. He
is well known for singing just like Neil Diamond. Tony adds great talent
to the band.
Mary Jo Demshock, 29, is the newest
member of the band. A resident of Hazleton for 25 years, she now resides in
Mountaintop. She has been involved with music since the age 10. She was an alto
saxophone player while she was in school, but she always wanted to play the
drums. In 2001, she sought help from professional drum instructor
Donny Dee.
Donny guided Mary Jo through various styles of playing including funk, jazz,
blues, progressive, double-bass, etc.. She had previously done fill-in work for
Jim Musto with the Cadillacs. She also is educated in live sound production. She
played for the Hazleton based band Badd Monkee. Her influences include Neil
Peart, Mike Portnoy, Phil Ehart, Keith Carlock, Phil Collins, Jim Musto and of course, Donny Dee. Mary Jo would like to thank the Cadillacs
for giving her the opportunity to play with such an amazing band, and to Jim
Musto for all of his help and guidance throughout the past years.
The Cadillacs cover a variety of artists,
including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Merle Haggard,
The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Bob Seger, Chubby Checker, and many, many
more from the past.
